One must still have chaos in oneself to be able to give birth to a dancing star. -Nietzsche |

Spite Repeated exposure to bad behavior shapes outlook. Highways are a microcosmic example: drivers who would rather not arrive at their destination dawdle to burn time, going slow in a passive aggressive dirge of obstruction and avoidance. Highway police are taught to see citizens as revenue sources, using speed limits from the 1970s though modern cars bear only a historical relation to vehicles of that era. Transporation becomes a misery of pretense, predation, and apathy.
"Replace them all with robots! Remove their independence and automate them by Google!" From spite at broken actors comes prayer for relief via negativa. When complex systems fail, we remove stressors one by one to restore natural function. The modern is taught by commercials to do the opposite, layering on yet another entangling and contradictory vector while trying to stabilize wild vacillations caused by ever tumbling conflicting excess.
