Everyone thinks their regular consciousness is normal, so when they start telling you their thoughts, positioning, interpretations, and reactions, you need only affirm and provoke onward as they paint the picture of their self-image and worldview.

From what they seek you can determine what they lack.

From what they cannot do and how quickly they give up, you can measure how they respond to limitations and how this impacts their aspirations.

From the words they use to describe their situation, you can fish out excuses, false hope, dependencies, and schemes, and measure how they use these as coping mechanisms.

Questions raise suspicion, but agreement, empathy, and willingness to listen flies under the radar and gets you far more than you really wanted to know.
