Progress
We become suddenly irrational and stupid, pretending to be unaware
of previous structures and formations that yielded better results.
We reason that:
- Surely everything we are doing now is better, because we have already
decided we have progressed and are superior to the best previous creations.
- Yet results are worse, showing constantly lower quality, so it must be due
to some secret cause, such as oppression.
- No one likes oppression (so those who do it are evil and inhuman,
worthy of scorn and hateful violence, even confiscation of their earnings)
and oppression would surely cause things to be worse, so the cause of all
these calamities must be a conspiracy of oppression.
- Our poor results have nothing to do with the structure all of our
approach (the best possible) or the quality of the people performing it (the
finest ever).
- Everything about our situation is the greatest possible ever and yet
results are not as good as those achieved and sustained in the past until
the era of progress.
- With more progress we'll have ever better results.
- This trajectory only becomes more perfect as we blindly go down an unknown
path, rejecting the well known out of spite.
