One must still have chaos in oneself to be able to give birth to a dancing star. -Nietzsche |

Conscription Would you put half your wealth and perpetual future earnings on the line for an opportunity to disavow your interests, beliefs, friends, joys, purpose, and highest aspirations? Your time will instead be spent entertaining bored people, socializing with those who do nothing interesting, watching popular entertainment products, listening to depressing stories about dystopian workplaces, and providing support instead of facing the world yourself. All goals and passions must be quelled and subsumed into duty, perhaps as an unconscious strategy to empty desire and leave a utilitarian shell. Like the priest feigning innocence to ask if you are a believer, the assumption is that you will claim conformity because that is what all good people do, and surely you want to appear to be good. And if you fall for that simple attack, your gentle obedience is sure to condemn you to be signed up to the fate others would like to make for you.
